The Haven - Friends for Life, is a no-kill animal shelter. The Haven is located on a 200 acre horse farm. After encountering the ignorant, inhumane and ineffective policies the local and state government displayed in the care and protection of homeless animals, it wasn’t long before Linden and Steve Spear decided it was clearly evident that the area didn't need another horse farm as much as the homeless animals needed a refuge. Therefore, Pine Haven Equestrian Center became The Haven - Friends for Life. The Haven currently houses approximately nine hundred dogs, puppies, cats and kittens. We are the largest no-kill shelter in North Carolina.
