In 1982, a small group of artists and arts administrators joined forces to combat the threatened elimination of state funding for the arts in Illinois. Out of these early advocacy efforts, the Illinois Arts Alliance Foundation (IAAF) was born. Today, IAAF is the primary multi-disciplinary organization in Illinois, serving the arts community through education, programming, research, public relations and coalition building. Citizens look to the IAAF when a single voice is not enough to improve arts programming in an under-served community or to protect an important program from extinction. Serving as the leading voice for all the arts in Illinois, the Illinois Arts Alliance Foundation strives to build a flourishing environment for the arts and culture in the State.
