Cause Description:
The Miss Manchester Scholarship Program is an official preliminary local program of the Miss New Hampshire /Miss America Organizations. The organization provides scholarships for post-secondary educational expenses of eligible female students between the ages of 17 and 24, who are United States citizens. Eligibility for the scholarships include the competition rules and guidelines of the Miss America Organization, which includes a talent performance and community achievement in private interview. The organization also provides the opportunity and aids in the fostering of each scholarship recipients community service project - a requirement for each applicant. Examples of applicants community service projects include: speaking in the classroom about the importance of staying in school, drug awareness programs nursing home visitations, organizing fund-raisers for local and national charitable organizations. There are no entry fees for contestants, and no membership dues for those individuals who wish to become volunteer members. Membership in the organization is open to anyone who wishes to volunteer in the program regardless of age, gender, race, national origin or creed. The purpose of this organization shall be to grant scholarships to young women between the ages of 17 and 24 inclusively (or the current age set by the Miss America Organization and Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Program) who have competed in an annual competition known as the Miss Manchester Scholarship Pageant. To grant other scholarships to worthy students based upon the vote of the Board of Directors on an annual basis. This corporation shall be affiliated with the Miss America Scholarship Program, through the Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Program..
