Cause Description:
Great River Rescue was started in 1977 as Beltrami Humane Society by a group of concerned citizens responding to a need to help animals. A 501(c)3 non-profit organization, we are a no-kill shelter located in the City of Bemidji in rural Northern Minnesota, serving around 300 dogs and cats at our shelter every year, who stay with us until their forever home is found. Through our Pet Fixers Low-Cost Spay & Neuter Program, we operate on around 700 animals at our monthly clinics that are held March- November. Mission, Vision, and Values Mission: Great River Rescue transitions dogs and cats to loving homes, serves as a community resource, and advocates for kind, responsible pet care. Vision: Great River Rescue envisions a society of responsible animal guardians in which every animal is treated with respect and care. Values: Care, compassion and empathy for animals and people. Accountability to high standards of professional and ethical behavior. Respect and kindness with every decision and interaction.
