Cause Description:
Keweenaw Spay Neuter Assistance Group was formed to assist area residents with the financial cost of spaying or neutering their pets. In the process of doing this we receive many phone calls from local people who have found stray animals and have no where to bring the animal. Although we have a local humane society they are usually "full" and do not like to take "stray" cats that may need socializing. We place these animals in foster care, rehabilitate them, spay or neuter, vaccinate, and test them for disease and place them in loving homes. We firmly believe that the only answer to the companion animal overpopulation problem is a strong spay AND neuter program. ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of money that we receive is used for the vet bills incurred helping strays and assisting families with the cost of spaying or neutering their pets.
