Cause Description:
To introduce a creative musical adaptation of Nina Mitrovic's dark comedy, "Neighbourhood Upside Down," to the general public. The musical, "City Upside Down," book and lyrics by Joshua H. Cohen and music by Lavell V. Blackwell, will be presented in a staged reading at the end of the year. Through the support of individuals and non-profit organizations the composer and lyricist's objective is to reach a broad audience and provide them the opportunity to see their work as emerging artists with a strong and clear vision that encompasses hard-hitting issues such as: the gentrification of NY neighborhoods; the steadily simmering racial tension that still exists in America today, and the shadow that the events of 9/11 cast over New York and the rest of the country.
