Cause Description:
I’m an American. And a New Yorker. Though I’m not a citizen, I am a member of the American and New York community and I’m lucky to be so. I always dreamt of being an actor in America. I’m proud to live in America. And I’m not alone. Every year, thousands of people apply for a visa for the opportunity to live, work and study in America. The application process is incredibly expensive and, therefore, nearly inaccessible, particularly for artists. It is a privilege to be here. Literally. If we are lucky enough to get that visa, we are privileged. America has been, and still is a nation of immigrants. Part of the excitement of living in America is this cornucopia of nationalities and cultures, and their impact on the arts. We want to be here. And we want to contribute to America. Our contributions as artists embody who we are. Our voices. Our bodies. Our sensitivity. Our passion. Our need to connect. I started FTP to create a supportive environment and active creative community for international artists who want to stay in the U.S.; to help sharpen their unique voice; to aid them in the immigration process; to create projects that connect us to you. You are the reason we are here. Creating dynamic theatre, sharing our culture with yours and starting conversations that continue beyond the theatre doors is not only our mission at FTP - it is our passion. Now, more than ever, I - we - need your help to allow this community to continue to move forward. Fundamental Theater Project is a NY-based 501c3 non-profit arts organization dedicated to fostering international collaboration in order to produce dynamic theatre and create a dialogue that continues beyond the theater doors. We support and cultivate emerging artists from around the world, and work with established industry professionals to tell engaging stories that resonate within the global community.
